Huasca de Ocampo is surrounded by forests and located near the former mining haciendas of San Miguel and Santa Maria Regla, Huasca de Ocampo.
It is a tiny town with white houses, clay roofs and stone cobbled streets. The town’s name means happiness and is derived from the Náhuatl word Huascazaloyam and also blended with the name of a local attorney and politician called Melchor Ocampo.
